Hanuman, the symbol of the human mind, guides us through deep love (Bhakti) to higher levels of consciousness. By reciting the Hanuman Chalisa we connect with the powerful energy of Hanuman and experience highest spiritual vibration.
This Chalisa (Chalis means forty in Hindi) is a poem written by Tulsidas (an Indian poet and philosopher of the 15th century). It is written in the Awadhi language, consists of 40 verses, and is one of the most sung prayers in India. Every one of this 40 verses of the Hanuman Chalisa mediates an outstanding form of blessing and has the power to transform different difficulties of our life. Liberty from dread, expanding enthusiasm, clearness of mind and self-confidence can be the consequence.
In India, the Hanuman Chalisa is currently extremely popular. A lot of Indians celebrate this prayer every day or every week. (The rule is to pray on Tuesdays and Saturdays because Tuesday and Saturday are the days of Hanuman.)
On this Tuesday we will recite the Hanuman Chalisa at least seven times together (maybe twenty-one times) in order to connect with the powerful energy of Hanuman. Accompanied by the sounds of the guitar, the harmonium and the drums and in combination with our singing, a world of sound emerges that carries a very special atmosphere. Sometimes mellow, almost monotonous, at other times energetic, thrilling, full of joy and vitality.
Reasoning ceases and we feel increasingly connected with the outstanding characteristics of Hanuman like courage and unconditional surrender.
The old scripts say that Hanuman appears himself and he is listening when somebody is reciting the Chalisa. They also say that all negative energy, black magic and disease disappear from the people who recite the Hanuman Chalisa at least seven times.
Also suitable for students who have not yet had experiences with Indian traditions or meditation.
